At People First, we intentionally design our curriculum so that everyone can understand and confidently use today’s technology. From learning keyboard and mouse basics to recognizing and avoiding online scammers, People First provides the tools and guidance you need to navigate the internet safely and efficiently.
At People First, we start by teaching the basics of using a keyboard and mouse. Students learn how to type, click, and navigate a computer with confidence. We also introduce internet services and connections so learners can begin exploring the web safely and effectively.
In another section of the course, we explore default apps and their functions. Students learn how to use common tools that come with their devices and how apps help perform everyday tasks. We also introduce other helpful apps, such as email and document editors, and explain how to keep apps and operating systems updated for the best performance and security.
One of our most technical course sections focuses on file sharing and file management. In this section, students learn how to share files, convert file types, and upload files to different apps. We also cover organizing files, creating folders, and using zip files to keep documents easy to manage.
Our final course section focuses on safe internet browsing and avoiding scams. Students learn how to find official websites and recognize warning signs of online scams. We also teach how to spot suspicious emails and protect yourself from people trying to take advantage of you online.
